Microsoft Press Conference Recap for Xbox ONE

Microsoft Press Conference revealed much about their upcoming system like the official name ‘Xbox One‘ and that it would be released later this year in 2013.  An extensive time (the first 30 minutes) was spent showing off the new interface, tech specs, system design and controller.  The machine looks very robust and ‘strong’ like a tank – the new controller looks very similar to the old one but will have a new updated design — hopefully fixing any d-pad issues we’ve had over the years. Microsoft presenters used buzzwords like ‘intelligent tv’ when talking about the new interface – trying

FUSE – Preview

For those of you who didn’t know the demo for Insomniac Games’ FUSE came out this week on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Insomniac is best known for their Ratchet & Clank series along-side the newer Resistance series. FUSE leans more towards the Resistance side, but oddly started out looking more like Ratchet & Clank in art style. The game was initially debuted as “Overstrike” at E3 2011 and featured a more cartoon-like aesthetic. In 2012 the game was shown again with a new name, FUSE, and a new more realistic art style. The change did not go over too

No Nintendo Press Conference at E3 2013

Nintendo announced they won’t have a press conference this year at the E3 Expo for 2013 but still plan to showcase games inside the exhibit hall.  What does this say about Nintendo as a brand?  As of now most are looking at this as Nintendo’s attempt to abandon the Wii U hype but Nintendo has always worked outside the box and generally has something up their sleeves – we’ll see how things play out in the long run but for now check out this quick vlog discussion Nintendo and Xbox news!

PS4 Press Conference Analysis

Sony’s recent unveiling of the PlayStation 4 at the PS4 Press Conference in NYC caused the Internet to explode with glee, grief, anger, confusion and shock.  It also left me with sore legs due to its length (It finished in just over 2 hours). Now, you can watch the press conference on your own or catch play-by-plays somewhere else.  I’m more interested in breaking it down and analyzing what we saw and what was said – along with everything not shown or unsaid. First is the PS4 itself.  The X86 CPU, 8GB of RAM and 8 cores leaves a fantastic

Dead Space 3 – Review

You’re walking down a dimly lit hallway. The lights flicker on and off in a pattern that seems controlled, yet is completely random. The whirr of a machine in some back room sets the baseline for the sounds you call “normal” in your head. “Everything is fine, it’s all normal” you keep telling yourself as you slowly lumber down the corridor in search of a missing component needed to build a piece of your escape ship. As your eyes follow the laser sight of your modified plasma cutter you notice a few bodies piled against the wall. “Still normal, as

Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC – Review & Gameplay

Mass Effect 3 DLC continues in the form of ‘Omega‘ for the single-player campaign add-on.  Last time we dusted off Commander Shepard was in the Leviathan DLC which took us to mysterious watery depths with about 3-4 hours of gameplay fun.  This time around BioWare offers up Omega as an expansion DLC with a little more gameplay (about 5-6 hours) and a whole lot more action! The Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC is pretty much one big battle as you descend further and further down into the space station ‘Omega’ with familiar faces like Aria T’Loak who needs Shepard’s help
