Spyro Reignited Trilogy comes out on September 21, 2018, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from Toys For Bob (Skylanders) and Activision. The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a collection of the first three Spyro games – Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2 Ripto’s Rage and Spyro Year of the Dragon but are all three built from the ground up with a new game engine and visual upgrade.

We had a chance to play two levels of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy at E3 Expo 2018 which were the ‘Toasty’ level and ‘Tree Tops’ level and saw a little bit of the challenge flying level ‘Sunny Flight’ in action. Playing Spyro again twenty years later feels like sort of a homecoming. The controls have been modified to support both thumbsticks so navigating around was much easier to do on the new version than years ago on a PlayStation One controller.

All three of the games collected in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be unlocked and ready to play from the start menu. Tom Kenny of SpongeBob fame was brought back to lend his voice to Spyro and from little we heard thus far sounded fantastic and also very youthful. All of the dialogue in the game has been recorded from scratch but is based on the original scripts and gameplay from the first go-around of Spyro video games.
