Xbox One will not be Backwards Compatible

Microsoft has made a great mistake. Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten confirmed that the Xbox One will not be backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 nor the original Xbox, stating “The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn’t really work from that perspective.” He further stated that “We care very much about the investment people have made in Xbox 360 and will continue to support it with a pipeline of new games and new apps well into the future.” The Xbox One isn’t the much anticipated “next” Xbox. A console updating and replacing the old. The

Borderlands 2 – Review

Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, Borderlands 2 is the highly anticipated first person shooter/role playing game hybrid sequel to 2009’s surprise smash hit Borderlands. Taking its cues from a bevy of solid shooters and the legendary Diablo series, Borderlands 2 brings back the addictive action and nearly subversive humor which made the first game in the franchise so wildly popular. With a bigger budget this time and a passionate team of individuals behind it, this game has all the components necessary to become a huge success and extend the franchise. Once again taking place on the

7 WORST Movie Themed Video Games

Disclaimer: Before anyone goes and gets their panties in a bunch over what didn’t make this list lets establish that we all know that NES Rambo, Die Hard, The Karate Kid, Top Gun, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, the Sega Master System version of Rocky, and the Atari Texas Chainsaw Massacre suck hard. It would have been very easy to make this list all NES titles. We could have even made a top twenty five worst movie based video games list and never made it past the N64/PlayStation era. So in the interest of diversity

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – Preview

Like many fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, I was initially hesitant on becoming wholly committed to the idea of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance being developed by any another studio than Kojima Productions. Even with the solid action seen in previous trailers, it was still a hard sell that another crew could create a game to properly honor the revered Metal Gear name. It looks though as if Platinum Games, developers of such titles as Bayonetta and Mad World, have delivered. Watch the new Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Gameplay video to see for yourself below, as well as the

Deep Black Ep. 1 – Review

Deep Black (Episode 1) is an action third person shooter that takes place mostly underwater developed by Biart (played on the Xbox 360).  This was a difficult one to endure – why?  Because of murky controls but there was some fun to be had deep down if you looked far enough. Players use an underwater jetpack to venture through most of the environments in Deep Black – Ep. 1, a gimmick that was soon lost on me. No level of jetpack boost was enough to speed up the action, nor was using the harpoon’s sub-weapon to “hack” doors underwater or

Halo 4 explores humanity of 117, brings back a fan favorite

343 Industries is striving for excellence after taking the Halo helm. Showing a trim Master Chief this dev diary features a few of the folks at 343 discussing the character of John 117 in previous Halo games, or rather the lack there of. “Most of the exploration we’ve done of the Master Chief has been done through other media outside of the games… we wanted to put it squarely in the video game this time.” – Frank O’Connor, for those of us who haven’t delved into the larger Halo mythos O’Connor’s words should bring a sense of excitement and anticipation

Syndicate – Review

The ‘mega-corps’ have taken over. World citizens no longer swear allegiance to sovereign nations, opting instead to take the next step in “brand loyalty” having sophisticated micro chips implanted in their brains. A new world of connectivity and consumerism is open to those who would align themselves with one of these corporate syndicates, but with this ultimate cyber convenience comes ultimate electronic enslavement. With a diminished government the biggest of the corporations are free to openly wage war pitting their soldiers and enhanced Breach capable agents against each other for technological supremacy. Opening statements of a book by conspiracy theorist
