Trials has been one of my favorite pick up and play games for quite a while now. Being able to get Trials Fusion on the new generation of systems a while back gave me something to play when I didn’t want to get too invested in a long-winded RPG or too worked up over a Halo match. I’m what you would call a more casual Trials player. I complete all the levels, and only go back if I know I did something bad and can easily get a better time. I like seeing the levels, playing through them, and earning unlocks while I relax on the couch. So when the E3 news came that there would be a new, off the wall DLC for the game featuring a cat with a gun riding a unicorn, I was excited to have more to do in the game.
The only issues I really ran into were performance issues that existed in the base game. Annoying things like not being able to see the bike you are selecting at the select screen unless you wait forever, hitches in loading, texture pop in, and more. I should note, I was playing on Xbox One. It’s a bit disappointing that I am coming back multiple months after the initial game launched, yet still these issues remain. That’s a more broad disappointment though, and not specifically about the DLC.
Overall I’d say the Trials Fusion Awesome Level Max DLC is well worth the $9.99 Ubisoft is charging if you really enjoy the base game and want some crazy-fun levels and more goodies. Beware of the performance issues on Xbox One, though, they can put a damper on your enjoyment!
