April 2008 marked another SC3 Arcade/Party gathering and COIN-OP TV’s Rob joined about fifty other arcade and video game fans for the festivities! For those unfamiliar – the party takes place at Steve’s house in Claremont CA where the owner dusts off his arcade collection (over 30 games) and puts them all on freeplay.
Other SC3 members bring their consoles like the NES, Intellivision, Vectrex and more with a handful of games nearby ready to plug in and play. Other highlights were the Guitar Hero ‘room of doom’ which allows players to go head to head on a large projection screen display and for the first time Rock Band took center stage on Steve’s giant screen TV for all to witness the pretend concerts.
Pizza, booze and a mini-swap meet were other additions to the party. We ran into many familiar friends and met some new people as well! Our hope is that one day this party will grow into something bigger and better over the years and even expand into a venue or some type of ‘official’ location in Los Angeles.
