Bethesda Press Conference E3 Expo 2017 was standing room only for those in attendance setup just like a rock concert. It seemed like about 90% of the showcase was pre-recorded segments with clever Fallout-style transitions separating each game.
Not many surprises coming out of the Bethesda Press Conference this year as some info had already leaked but the trailers were all polished and the presentation top notch. Pete Hines from Bethesda hosted the show and introduced two VR games releasing in 2017 – in fact all the games showcased at the event are expected to release sometime this year.
Doom VFR is an adaptation of the popular Doom video game set in what looks like a space station where you warp from point to point instead of running.
The Fallout 4 VR trailer looked like a walkthrough of the game’s scenery and it was difficult to tell what would be so different between the normal game and VR.
The Elderscrolls Online Morrowind – which was just released – had a new gameplay trailer.
A new The Elder Scrolls Legends – Heroes of Skyrim trailer was showcased during the presentation and is a digital card game coming 6/29/17.
Dishonored 2 will have DLC (or a stand alone expansion?) called ‘Death of the Outsider’ coming 9/15/17 and will give you the chance to play as either Daud or Billie Lurk. Both of these characters will have new abilities and we’re guessing that Michael Madsen will reprise his role as Daud.
Quake Champions was shown off with a heavy emphasis on competition and eSports. The new trailer revealed that BJ Blazkowicz from the Wolfenstein franchise would be added to the game.
Probably the most cinematic E3 2017 trailer we’ve seen thus far came from the reveal of The Evil Within 2. The Evil Within 2 will be bringing back Sebastian and him trying to save his daughter Lily. This time around the game looks a little more fantasy driven than horror and overall has a Kojima vibe to it. The Evil Within 2 will be released on Friday, Oct 13, 2017.
The Bethesda Press Conference E3 Expo 2017 closed with the reveal of Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus coming out 10/27/17. This time around Wolfenstein appears to be heavily story-driven with a colorful cast of characters and weapons added to the mix. Out of all the new gameplay trailers shown off at the Bethesda presentation, Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus was the most visually stunning and interesting to watch.
Finally – in the middle of it all Bethesda snuck in a quick moment of Link from The Legend of Zelda who was teleported into the world of The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch version of the game — probably the biggest surprise of the weekend so far!
