DesignerCon is an annual convention held in Pasadena, California which showcases art, illustration, vinyl toys, t-shirts and much more. DesignerCon is one of our favorite shows to attend as it is a celebration of the independent artist and a curation of some of the best local artists.
One of the vendor booths there brought with them a large collection of Japanese import items including a variety of Tsum Tsum plushies. The Disney line of Tsum Tsum plushies have become an enormous hit in the U.S. as well as overseas in Japan so it was a treat to get to handpick through a large stack of these goodies at DesignerCon 2015.
Probably the biggest shift we witnessed this year at DesignerCon 2015 was the amount of booths showcasing 3D printed sculptures. It’s interesting to see the change from vinyl customs to 3D printed objects for display and sale but we’re concerned a bit on the quality since the technology is still in its infancy. DesignerCon is a fun show to attend and it’s great to see how it has expanded over the years – here’s hoping it never becomes a corporate identity.
