The Good Dinosaur is the second Disney Pixar animated feature length film released in 2015 (the first was Inside Out) and features a budding relationship between Arlo (a dinosaur) and Spot (a humanoid) where dinosaurs rule the earth.  Pixar’s track record is up and down when it comes to feature animation projects as there are plenty of gems like Toy Story, The Incredibles and Monsters Inc but plenty of so-so ones like Monsters University, Cars 2 and now The Good Dinosaur.

While The Good Dinosaur isn’t a bad movie at all — in fact it is actually pretty ‘good’ but unfortunately that is all it is ….. good not great.  Probably the greatest praise that will come out of this film is how photo realistic the scenery is in contract to the characters which remain very cartoon-like.  The Good Dinosaur takes us on a fantastic adventure but its mixed bag of serious, whacky, sad and strangely adult tones make the movie ultimately feel like it missed the mark.
