Kylotonn Studios is back again this year with their latest Rally Car release World Rally Championship 7, or WRC 7, as I’ll refer to it throughout this article. Let’s take a look and see how WRC 7 improves on last year’s release.

The graphics and terrain in WRC 7 are impressive. Not only do they look beautiful, but the various surfaces respond and sound unique. There is more of a “crunch” sound traversing gravel than is heard when racing on asphalt. WRC 7 includes tracks from all 13 WRC countries including Germany, Sweden, and Australia. These environments vary greatly and each is expertly recreated and breathtaking to view. If you are one of those that like to take pictures in-game, these environments provide great backdrops for your images.

As with WRC6, you start by running a short time trial to help determine what difficulty you are best suited for in the game. If not to your liking, you are free to adjust to make your races more competitive. WRC 7 includes both a simulation mode and a sim-cade mode, the latter being fairly tough for new drivers. Each of the 60 stages included in the game provides you a wide range of driving experiences and you need to make sure you pay attention to the terrain you are racing on. It’s easy to drift around a corner on a dirt section of track, but drive the same way in the Swedish snow and you may find yourself spinning around and facing the wrong direction.

The career mode in WRC 7 is present, but there isn’t much life to it. The process is as follows: sign up as part of a team and start driving. You are given goals, but succeeding in these goals doesn’t provide you many additional benefits as there is not really any team management component included with the game. Racing for a team is fun but can seem like a grind at times.

WRC 7 Review – World Rally Championship 7 Final Thoughts:

World Rally Championship 7 is available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at $49.99 while the Steam players can purchase the game for $39.99. If you are a Rally Car fan, I recommend picking up this game and enjoying a very tough racing series.
