NYKO is one of the leading third party accessories for the Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Wii. They showed off some clever new items at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2011) that led to much hype. Lucky for us – their headquarters are in Los Angeles. We paid them a visit recently and learned two things: Nyko employees are snappy dressers and their products are ready for prime time.
High on our radar was a chance to check out the ‘Power Shot’ for the PlayStation 3 which is a ‘Tactical Rifle Attachment for the PlayStation Move’. The rifle holds both PS3 controllers and is a bit more ergonomic than the Sony-branded version and easily will let you switch from righty to lefty. Another excellent accessory is the ‘Perfect Shot Pro‘ for the Nintendo Wii. Nyko has been an earlier adapter of making ‘gun’ attachments for the Wii and this one just looks even cooler and handles just as good.
We also got a chance to inspect the Intercooler STS which is a coolant device to keep your Xbox 360 Slim from overheating. The unit is designed to suck air out of your Xbox and jet it out the front – keeping the hot air away from your other electronic devices.
The last ‘new toy’ was the Raven controller for the PlayStation 3. As much as we wanted to praise this unit – we felt ourselves scratching our heads around the design. It felt like it was geared more towards kids then adults as our hands didn’t ‘shape’ the grip as well as we hoped. The look and design is neat and if you are looking for a second PS3 controller for half the price then it’s a good option.
We look forward to seeing more Nyko products on display at upcoming events. Some of you may remember that our very own Hailey Bright modeled for some of their commercials and we had Chris Arbogast on the live show episode 237.
