This week Activision officially announced their new game in the popular franchise called Skylanders Trap Team! Why ‘Trap Team’ — cause the game introduces new Skylanders called the ‘Trap Masters‘ who have greater power in the form of Traptanium and the ability to ‘trap’ villains in the game and store them on a Crystal sculpture. In reality — all Skylanders have the ability to ‘trap’ baddies and then force them back into the world of Skylands to use at their disposal.
Original game developers Toys For Bob created Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure as a way to ‘bring toys to life’ and with Skylanders Trap Team they’re attempting to bring ‘life to toys’. How it works — ‘trapped’ villains are stored on Crystals which are placed into the ‘Portal of Power’ and with the new Portal there is a speaker so the bad guys will chatter and interact verbally while you play the game. Ultimately you’ll be able to play as these same ‘trapped’ villains in the game (a first for Skylanders) and the developers have even confirmed that in some way you’ll be able to ‘trap’ and play as Kaos – a longtime nemesis to all the Skylanders.
Skylanders Trap Team will be out in Oct 2014 across all platforms including Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS.
