SIFTD launched a year ago (2015) just before E3 from founder Shane Satterfield (ex G4TV/GameTrailers) as a way to curate gaming news and content floating around the Internet. The premium content (ad free) was $30.00 a year but will be increasing (June 2016) to $50.00 a year to help pay for bandwidth and other bills needed to sustain an independent website. In addition to curating content – the SIFTD website also hosts three original video programs like Game Face (talk show/debate), Patcher Factor (industry insider predictions) and Platinum Journey (PlayStation tutorials).
Shane declared today in his ‘two year update video‘ that basic membership will now be free — we’re not sure exactly what comes with basic membership as we’ve been paid/premium members since launch. Shane also announced that additional shows were on the drawing board like a potential ‘quiz show’ and others he will most likely talk about more in detail when they launch.
Something else to take into consideration is last week on Game Face co-host Matt Keil announced that he just started at a new job that would pose conflicts in his schedule but promises to commit time to hosting Game Face weekly with Shane. In a time where Patreon, IndieGoGo and Kickstarter bring in high money for indie content creators – SIFTD acts a a direct way to help sponsor a self published website and show support.
