Shadow of the Tomb Raider from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics comes out September 14, 2018, and we already did a hands-on preview of the latest Lara Croft video game here but at E3 Expo 2018 there was more to see and do. We had a chance to see more of Shadow of the Tomb Raider at an E3 Expo preview event which showcased more of the video game than we had seen at the reveal.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is 3x the size of any previously released Tomb Raider game. The walkthrough we witnessed took place in Paititi, an ancient lost city, which contained a thriving community and plenty of history. Lara spent a good amount of time walking through this jungle city interacting with characters in the game like specific quest givers. The previous two entries in the Tomb Raider franchise didn’t offer much in the way of a city or hub where you interacted with the town and their inhabitants so this is a nice welcome to the third video game.
Probably the coolest new thing we saw Lara Croft do in Shadow of the Tomb Raider was her stealth-kill using a rope where she snagged an assailant and pulled him into the tree backward and left them dangling and hanging to death. Lara Croft’s ability to use hand-to-hand combat and stealth combine looks to be the most refined yet!
