Realms of Ancient War (RAW) is out now for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and will be available in Oct for Windows PC. Realms of Ancient War is a top down fantasy hack-n-slasher from Focus Home Interactive.
The timing to release Realms of Ancient War was perfect! By now, most people who picked up Diablo 3 have finished the game and Torchlight II was just released but not for a console system. So if you are a fan of that genre and only have an Xbox or PlayStation then Realms of Ancient War is a decent way to wet your appetite.
Realms of Ancient War offers single-player and local co-op (on console) and contains many elements that are familiar to this genre like endless hoards of monsters and a simple rpg leveling up system. Playing WAR solo won’t be quite as satisfying as with a friend – we’ve provided plenty of gameplay to prove it.
Unfortunately we had a handful of ‘issues’ playing Realms of Ancient War – the color palette is a mess. Skeletons and other monsters are often the same exact color of the floor – making it difficult to tell when you are being attacked or not. Also, the game is ridiculously difficult – we had to play on EASY just to capture some decent gameplay footage – it felt rather unfair.
Realms of Ancient Realm has enough moderate ‘fun’ factor going in but will most likely frustrate the casual player. For more info on WAR be sure to check out their website: http://www.raw-thegame.com.
