The LEGO Ninjago Movie will be coming to theaters September 22, 2017, and The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game will be released the same day to coincide with the film. The video game will adapt the movie and feature the same heroes from the popular Ninjago franchise like Lloyd, Nya, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane and Master Wu who must defend their island against Lord Garmadon and his epic Shark Army.
The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game features updates to the game engine as TT Games is no longer limited by trying to release their games on previous generation consoles. Martin Palmer from TT Fusion discussed at the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 that The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game would have more of an open world feel to it because restrictions on developing for old platforms had been lifted. We witnessed a new game mechanic in The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game where villains displayed a colored outline around them to help determine who to attack next or which friendlies to avoid.
The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game will be out on September 22, 2017, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. There were two playable levels at the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 for the public which involved flying in ships and shooting at other ships along with some hand-to-hand combat between the Shark Army and a demonstration of Ninjagility which is a combination of quick time events and exploring the landscape.
