I AM 8-BIT art show opening Thursday Aug 14th 2008 here in Los Angeles. This show is special in many ways because it pays a tribute to 8-bit and arcade video games. COIN-OP TV has coveraged this event since the first year and will be there again in force getting interviews with some of the featured artists. We had the privilege of visiting the gallery before the show went up to take a peak at the artwork. This show has grown and this one promised to be the best yet! The new location on Hollywood blvd means plenty of foot traffic and the gallery is air conditioned (something Gallery 1988 lacked) and about three times the size.
When I arrived Blik (co-sponsor of event) were there setting up the installation on the walls while the artwork was mostly piled up in the center and around the walls. There were a handful of pieces that caught my eye from artists Joe Vaux, Jude Buffum, Jim Mahfood and Scott C. Opening night will feature drinks, dancing by sexy models and a DJ with a party atmosphere. Below are some ‘setting’ up photos of the event but be sure to check it out if you live in Los Angeles as the show runs until Sept 7th 2008.
If only I was any where near LA I’d be heading to that.
