We enjoyed Dishonored (2012) from Arkane Studios/Bethesda and are much looking forward to checking out Dishonored 2 when it comes to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 11, 2016. We had a chance to get hands-on time with Dishonored 2 and also ask questions directly to Harvey Smith one of the creatives behind both games.
Corvo the master assassin is back again in Dishonored 2 and you can decide to play as him or Emily who is now all grown up and full of her own special set of abilities. Dishonored 2 takes place in a fictional setting – Empire of the Isles with most of the action set in Karnaca. For those looking for a difficult challenge you can play the entire game without any special powers in a mode that is tentatively being called ‘flesh and steel’.
As was before – controls, visuals and sound design are all top notch for Dishonored 2. Something new to the equation is a voice-over from both Corvo and Emily which according to developers was inspired by Daud’s character from the original Dishonored DLC. Some of Daud’s special powers were incorporated into Dishonored 2 where Corvo can now freeze time when he uses ‘Blink’ and Emily can pull objects towards her. During our Q&A with Harvey Smith he explained that the skill tree has been modified where players now have more choices on how to level up their abilities.
The Dishonored franchise has a unique visual style and tone with an emphasis on stealth – we’ll be curious to get our hands on the final game when it releases.
