Deus Ex Mankind Divided will release in August 2016 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC from Square Enix. During our media event we had a chance to see a live-action trailer for the game which featured a story about how augmented human go from being celebrated to becoming outcasts and shunned as a result of their body parts malfunctioning. By now you have probably already seen this trailer or short film leading up to the release of Deus Ex Mankind Divided.
The new topic of discussion was a new mode called ‘Breach‘ which is a reference to an April Fools’ prank by the developers on the community regarding having only a pink and black color scheme. Turns out ‘Breach’ will feature this design and mimics a VR environment where graphics have jagged edges and simple shapes — sort of like an oddball glitch but is intentionally made by the developers. The ‘Breach’ mode for Deus Ex Mankind Divided will be available to play at launch.
During the walkthrough of Deus Ex Mankind Divided we got to see Adam Jensen in his apartment taking a shower and interacting with his surroundings. From what we saw during the presentation nothing leaped off the screen as profoundly groundbreaking — animation was very simple like when Adam jumped from ledge to ledge his hands stayed in the ‘ready’ position holding his weapon. This was also true when Adam opened a door – somehow magically able to do this with no animation to show his hand move down out of frame to turn the door knob.
We had a chance to see some of the stealth take-downs and stun gun tactics as part of Deus Ex Mankind Divided game mechanics which looked pretty but were not part of ‘in-game’ animation. We’ll be curious to see if the lack of ‘polish’ deters any hype or anticipation leading up to the release of the game.
