Namco Bandai has a good variety of games just on the horizon and we got a chance to see some of them up close and personal at a demo day event in Los Angeles last week. Two games we saw that fall into the ‘motion’ category were Body and Brain Connection for Microsoft Kinect and Time Crisis: Razing Storm for the PlayStation Move. Body & Brain sorta felt like Brain Age on the Kinect while Time Crisis is an early shooter that uses the Move controls both on rails and in a 3D playable environment. Something that stood out with Razing Storm was the ‘destructible cover’ (being able to destroy object person is hiding behind) which is something more shooters should apply in games.
We got our hands on Splatterhouse which is a revamp of the classic hack and slasher with brutally bloody graphics….. folks this game is a ‘blood bath’. You will fight hordes of demons and monsters as the hero, Rick, with tons of fun and damage to be had along the way. Splatterhouse has plenty of power-ups and mayhem to keep you interested and engaged for the duration of the game.
Knights Contract is an upcoming game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in which hero Heinrich is an immortal who escorts his companion Gretchen through a world littered with demons and witches. This game is still early in development but the graphics and interface all were lush and grand much like something from Dante’s Inferno or Bayonetta.
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom was also on hand and continues to intrigue us as for story and character development (see trailer below) and we also got to demo Pac-Man Party for the Nintendo Wii which looks like a fun party game worth spending the afternoon playing.
