Child of Light from Ubisoft released last week on multiple platforms and consoles including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U and PC.  In Child of Light you play as Aurora a female explorer with red flowing hair in the land of Lemuria.  Lemuria is a fantasy world with tons of enemies to encounter and battle — when you encounter a villain the perspective of the game goes from fluid to turn-based combat.

Child of Light has an excellent visual style and gives the illusion that it was made by a small indie company even though the heavies at Ubisoft Montréal were the ones responsible for the game.  Child of Light has a pretty music score and some of the combat elements are fresh and unique.  Ultimately we would have loved to have seen/heard voice acting in the dialogue scenes and a damage-meter on enemies during combat.  If you are looking for a relaxing weekend of gaming that sort of harkens the essence to games like Limbo and Flower then Child of Light may be your cup of tea!
