Capcom is set to restructure its arcade operations in a bid to boost profitability to a seven-year high by March 2009.
Capcom will close three unprofitable arcade centers and open eight larger ones that target women and families in a bid to recapture some of the market lost to home videogame consoles like Nintendo’s Wii, reports Bloomberg.
The news was announced by Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto. “It’s all about the location,” he said, if the company wants to reinvigorate a stagnating market.
The news comes on the back of a poor performance by the Osaka-based company’s arcade operations during the first half of its financial year.
