Ubisoft released the official Assassin’s Creed III trailer today after excitement brewed last week over “leaked” box and poster art hit the Internet.  Set during the American Revolutionary War, you will continue the war against the Templars – who are seemingly backing the British Empire to halt colonial independence.

I am hopeful that moving on to a new character will revitalize the Assassin’s Creed franchise.  I am encouraged to see our hero, Connor, bounding through the trees and woods instead of buildings.  There is also a move during the trailer where our assassin uses the soldier’s musket against its owner.

Lastly, I’m looking forward to receiving more information regarding how our assassin ties into the story of the War for Independence.  I am personally a huge fan of this piece of history and hope we’ll get to see more in the coming months leading up to E3.

Assassins Creed III will be released on October 30, 2012 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
