Clan of the White Lotus also known as Fists of the White Lotus is a Shaw Brothers martial arts film from 1980 directed by Lo Lieh starring Gordon Liu and Kara Wai.
In “Clan of the White Lotus,” Gordon Liu portrays Hung Wen-Ting, who faces off against the formidable White Lotus Priest, played by Lo Lieh. The film continues the legacy of the 1977 film “Executioners from Shaolin” and the 1979 film “Abbot of Shaolin.”
Tragedy strikes as Lo Lieh’s character murders Liu’s brother and friends, leaving Liu seeking vengeance. However, he finds himself unable to overcome the White Lotus Priest’s kung fu, a formidable defense that seems impervious to oncoming attacks, devoid of any weaknesses.
With the help of his sister-in-law, played by Kara Wai, Liu strives to develop a new kung fu style that may overcome the White Lotus Priest’s unstoppable ability.
“Clan of the White Lotus” is a masterful display of storytelling, featuring an excellent hero-villain dynamic. Gordon Liu’s mesmerizing performance and Kara Wai’s compelling portrayal add depth to the narrative, making this martial arts classic a must-watch.
