While most casual gamers were familiar with the Xbox Series X hardware and specs and some hardcore games were tracking the Xbox Series S info it was this week that Microsoft pulled the curtain back and announced the official pricing and release date.
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be released on November 10, 2020. The Xbox Series X is considered the higher-end premium console and will be priced at $499 while the more consumer-friendly Xbox Series S will cost $299. The Xbox Series S will most likely outsell the Xbox Series X considering the price point and current financial climate most people are facing in 2020. The size of the Series S is dramatically smaller by about a third and is colored in white with a black fan while the Series X is all black. The Series S is an all-digital gaming console so there is no way to insert discs into the machine but gamers will have the ability to expand their HD space should they run out.
The Xbox Series X has all the bells and whistles when it comes to internal capabilities. The Series X will have higher processing power when compared to the Series S and is meant for playing video games on 4K TVs. The Series S will be more powerful than the Xbox One and geared more for consumers with a 1080 HD TV.

The big question now is how much Sony will price their upcoming PlayStation 5 system which will also have two different versions. One version with a disc drive and one a digital-only – though we are left to believe the internal processing power will match. Many are predicting and even betting the PlayStation 5 to match the $499 price for the full version and the PS5 digital version to be $399.
