Based on the popular Cartoon Network series, OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes is a charming action beat ‘em up video game with a sprinkle of RPG elements and an immersive animated art style. As the hero K.O., you’re tasked with defending the Lakewood Plaza strip mall from the evil Lord Boxman and helping others on your path to becoming a true hero. Even if you haven’t seen any OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes episodes or any of the web shorts before, the world building and easy learning curve of this game’s combat sequences will have you playing for hours on end.

Lakewood Plaza and its colorful cast of characters are the heart and soul of the OK K.O. experience. Your best buds Rad and Enid are featured prominently, offering quests for you to complete and they have your back during battles with their wowie zowie special collector card abilities. K.O.’s butt-kicking warrior mom, his ripped boss Mr. Gar, elite white hat hacker Dendy, and others can be unlocked to assist in fights as the story progresses as well, giving you an incentive to keep smashing robots and buying POW cards to complete your collection. POW card packs are purchased using in-game currency, so there are no predatory loot boxes to take advantage of kids here. Though this is a TV show tie-in game, it’s obvious that OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes was made with lots of love, resulting in a quality release worth investing time in.
