Let It Die is an upcoming free-to-play hack-and-slash brawler survival game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and GungHo for releasing exclusively on the PlayStation 4.  Players can pick to play as either a male or female hero and explore dungeon-like environments to smash, shoot, chop and bash enemies and collect loot in the form of weapons, food and clothing.

According to developers Let It Die was influenced by the strong visuals of post apocalyptic anime/manga titles like Fist of the North Star, Akira and Violence Jack.  We had a chance to play through about 90 minutes of game during our hands-on preview and mostly spent the time exploring tunnels and small arenas taking on bad guys and learning the controls.  In the game you can equip a weapon in each hand and use them independently but not combined.  It takes some time figuring out the game mechanics of switching the weapons which uses the D-Pad on the PS4 controller and once you start getting the hang of a weapon it wears out and breaks and you have to fetch another one.

Mark Hamill was cast as the voice of The Narrator who was chosen by Akira Yamaoka from Grasshopper Manufacture who worked with the voice talent to help match up voices that he felt was best suited for each character in Let It Die.  The game features numerous amounts of unique characters and sort of feels like a spin-off game from the Mad Max Fury Road movie.  Let It Die is not meant to be taken all that seriously as the mascot of the game ‘Uncle Death‘ rides a skateboard and the developer diaries appearing on YouTube have a late-night talk show feel to them complete with a laugh track.
