We had a chance to demo ROCKSMITH from Ubisoft at E3 2011. The concept is simple – take a real guitar (as opposed to those plastic ones) and plug it directly into your gaming console (Xbox 360 and/or PlayStation 3) and jam out to some of your favorite tracks in your living room. Instead of the familiar ‘note highway’ that Guitar Hero and Rock Band pioneered – Rocksmith offers a 3D view with notes coming directly toward the player.
The interface is simple and clean and within a few songs you’ll be able to get the hang of things. Ubisoft has also done a wonderful job of bringing Rocksmith to music venues across the U.S. to help promote the game and also market the brand through some high profiled YouTube partners like Freddie & Brandon from the Freddie W channel and Toby Turner.
