It looks like Terminal Reality turned the brightness slider way down since last time we saw footage of the upcoming The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. While this new trailer looks better than the last, it does nothing to answer the questions we have about the game. Questions like: What kind of game are we looking at? The title gives a hint but the trailer has me scratching my head. Is it a game of survival, action, or perhaps a FPS RTS RPG with both deep stat management and extensive base building options? Of course we’re also left with a big question about the game’s main characters: Stories from The Walking Dead universe are character driven with interpersonal relationships being central to plot progression; are the brothers Dixon deep enough to deserve their own back story? Now a Japanese style dating sim that has the player trading off control of high school aged Shane and Rick as they compete for the attention of their female class-mates, there’s a back story game!
I’d like to take the opportunity to address a couple of things said the last time we had a look some video from The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. I’m a big enough person to admit when I’m wrong and am therefore willing to take back the comment about Half-Life puking on Left 4 Dead. Also it seems that publisher Activision is still set on a March release, which means I lose my fictitious over/under wager. So, what goes good on hat?
