Muppets Most Wanted is in theaters this week — it is a follow-up to the 2011 reboot of The Muppets which featured Jason Segel and Amy Adams.  Muppets Most Wanted kicks off right where the previous film ended and this time around features live action stars Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell along with a cavalcade of other celebrity guest appearances.

Why we loved Muppets Most Wanted over the previous The Muppets film was mostly because the sequel was a Muppet movie about Muppets and not a live-action film featuring Muppets.  Muppets Most Wanted introduces a new character/villain called Constantine who much resembles Kermit the Frog but with a foreign accent and giant mole on his face.  As you can guess – hilarity ensues when Kermit and Constantine swap places as both struggle to figure out their new surroundings.

All your favorite Muppets are back with plenty of screen time like Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo, Animal, Sam Eagle and even Walter who was introduced in the previous film.  Out of the live-action characters it is Tina Fey who shines the most as Nadya the Siberian gulag warden.  Overall most of the music numbers are clever and catchy with the standout song belonging to newly introduced Constantine called ‘I’ll Get You What You Want‘.  If you are a fan of the Muppets then you’ll most likely get a kick out of the new film — for newcomers it may be hit or miss depending on your age range and level of nostalgia.  Either way we’re glad to see the franchise in good hands with Disney moving forward — be sure to check out our vlog review with Black Nerd Comedy!
