MORTAL KOMBAT is back in a big way in 2011 led by the revamped video game from Warner Brothers and NetherRealm Studios and a high concept (and fully sanctioned) Internet TV series called Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

It was only fitting that WB roled out the literal red carpet for a launch party in Hollywood for the game and Internet show.  Faces in the crowd included Michael Jai White and Jeri Ryan from the show and Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon and God of War III director Stig Asmussen (who’s Kratos appears in the PlayStation 3 version of the game).

The guys from Machinima were also present (MK: Legacy is being syndicated on their YouTube channel and currently has over 4 million views for episode one) and more celeb friends including Felicia Day and Sean Becker of The Guild fame and Jace Hall from The Jace Hall Show (and pretend nemesis of Felicia Day).

Halfway through the evening the DJ put the music on hold and the venue screened episode two of Mortal Kombat: Legacy which had twice the action and fun of the premiere episode.  The Mortal Kombat game is a vast improvement over the last versions and we believe the Tag Team element will help make it stand out and cross over into fans of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Tekken.  Kratos as a Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive character was fun to play – no sign of any Xbox 360 ‘surprise’ exclusive characters at the event.
