Judo-Chop concert in Little Tokyo LA

Published on March 30, 2007 by in News & Events

7 Samurai Records put on a show called ‘Judo-Chop‘ with Japanese Rock N Roll (5 bands total). I had never heard of any of the bands but I knew my friends at TGG were going so I had to see what all the excitement was for myself.

The show started off late because of some tech issues and the bar never opened until the show started so that was a real drag. The first band up was called Hokma Gandhi and was fronted by a tall white dude along with a cute asian gal on bass. All the kids crowded into the 2nd Street Jazz Bar by now and were all clumped together near the entrance. It wasn’t until the superior Mongoose took the stage that the kids started rockin out. If you like ‘garage rock’ then Mongoose is worth checkin out! Next up was Dig Jelly – fronted by the fantastic looking Rayko. Dig Jelly performed at PMX in 2006 and seem to have a following however their sound doesn’t do much for me. Thee Out Mods performed next and really took over the stage with energy and a cool sound. Overall a fun show but I missed the last band Friday Knights cause I had to go move my car from the parking structure about to close. Next Judo-Chop show is scheduled for May 3rd – so check it out!
