Everybody loves loot. From killing moblins in the Legend of Zelda to farming mobs in World of Warcraft, people have always been obsessed with what reward they receive for defeating an enemy.  In the world of action-RPGs, this only intensified as the fighting became more frenetic and the rarity of the items became more sacrosanct.  Heroes of Ruin looks to increase your desire for loot by adding a third dimension to it.

Arriving later in 2012 on the Nintendo 3DS, Heroes of Ruin puts you in the shoes of a mercenary, one of many hired by the ruler of Nexus, to find a cure for the deadly curse put upon him.  There are four different classes to choose from with what looks to be broken down to warrior, mage, fighter and ranged classes.  You can go it alone or enjoy up to four people playing seamlessly together locally or online with their drop-in / drop-out system for multiplayer.  The game will also sport daily challenges via SpotPass for you to enjoy and earn even more loot.

The latest trailer asks you to think about what could be lying in the ruins – knowledge, power, honor?  Really though, let’s face it, you’re in it for the loot.  As long as there is a lot of it, I’m sure we will all be satisfied.  Even with vague teaser trailers like this, you can sleep soundly knowing Heroes of Ruin is coming from n-Space – a great company with a solid DS pedigree (Call of Duty: Black Ops/MW2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2).
