We had a chance to play Ubisoft’s upcoming game Far Cry Primal which will see a February 23, 2016 release date.  Far Cry Primal like other Far Cry games in the franchise is an open world first person action game set in the jungle however this time around we flashback to the Stone Age where Man is not the most dominant force on the planet.

We checked out Far Cry Primal running on a PS4 in Alpha – the graphics and gameplay were of high standard and controls pretty smooth.  You play as Takkar who can weld a club, bow & arrows and a spear.  You can also tame animals to assist you in defeating enemies – on which there are plenty.

In Far Cry Primal you’ll learn to appreciate the wilderness and forest – you have an Owl that flies high above to help assist you in scouting and can be used for attacks as well.  The environmental aspect of the game is pretty active as well – you can light your club on fire and walk around burning up the ground, people and even animals then fly above as the Owl to get a bird’s eye view of the carnage.

We look forward to getting our hands on the finished game next year as it’ll be a refreshing adventure to take early in the new year when things aren’t quite as crowded in the market place.  Far Cry Primal is set to release February 23, 2015 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox and on March 1, 2015 for Windows PC.
