Dragon’s Lair is out now on the Xbox 360 – in full HD glory – re-mastered and…..KINECT enabled.  For those of us (like me) old enough to remember this 1983 arcade classic – playing Dragon’s Lair on an Xbox 360 is quite a trip down memory lane.

So here’s the Dragon’s Lair concept in a nutshell – Dirk the Daring must save the sexy princess Daphne from the clutches of an evil dragon named Singe.  If you went into an arcade during the early 1980s you were surrounded by bleeps and blips on every coin-operated machine.  Games were limited by memory and motherboard size – it wasn’t until Dragon’s Lair came around that people really were wowed with arcade visuals.  Dragon’s Lair played off of a laser disc and was produced by movie production level animators – it wasn’t the first laser disc game but definitely the one that is most remembered and beloved.

So how does Dragon’s Lair stack up YEARS later in a world full of games that include moral decision making, online multiplayer and motion play?  Honestly – it’s a novelty.  What’s even more crazy is that the company went as far as to add Kinect play to the game – so now you are basically offering up a novelty on-top of a novelty.  That said – Dragon’s Lair will give you at least 30 minutes of FUN – it’s classic and a novel idea and in some ways kind of ties into some modern games that use ‘quick-time’ moments to tell action sequences like the God of War franchise.

Having an officially licensed and revamped version of Dragon’s Lair on the Xbox 360 is a treat and will only run you 800 Microsoft points – quite a bargain when you consider the game used to cost about a dollar for each play!  We’ve provided some gameplay to check out – enjoy!
