Dead Rising 2 from Capcom stars Chuck Greene as the reluctant protagonist of the story.  We’re back in the mall and this time around you have to manage collecting Zombrex in order to keep your daughter Katey alive.  Dead Rising 2 features tons of zombies, an upgrade in graphics and a more detailed story.  The biggest improvement is being able to combine weapons in the  maintenance room in order to deal even more damaging bloody damage to the wandering zombies you encounter.

Dead Rising 2 is for the ‘zombie’ fans – it is all about mowing down zombie after zombie – there is a story and humans to be saved along the way but the core is all about knocking them down, bashing their heads or chopping them to bits.  New this time around is co-op campaign via online support which is something Capcom talked to us in a video interview earlier in the year.  There are other online game modes and your abilities to fight upgrade as the game progresses.

On the downside – saving the game can be a hassle as you have to use specific save points in the form of a bathroom.  Combat and fighting is slow and Chuck doesn’t run so it makes for a grind.  Voice acting is at a minimal but there is some sprinkles throughout the game – especially in cut scenes.  With so many triple-A titles out this holiday season we think Dead Rising 2 will satisfy the hack and slashing zombie fans but be difficult to make a dent into every video gamers collection.  Dead Rising 2 is available now on multiple platforms from Capcom.
