Microsoft has made a great mistake. Xbox Live VP Marc Whitten confirmed that the Xbox One will not be backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 nor the original Xbox, stating “The system is based on a different core architecture, so back-compat doesn’t really work from that perspective.” He further stated that “We care very much about the investment people have made in Xbox 360 and will continue to support it with a pipeline of new games and new apps well into the future.” The Xbox One isn’t the much anticipated “next” Xbox. A console updating and replacing the old. The
Microsoft Press Conference Recap for Xbox ONE
Microsoft Press Conference revealed much about their upcoming system like the official name ‘Xbox One‘ and that it would be released later this year in 2013. An extensive time (the first 30 minutes) was spent showing off the new interface, tech specs, system design and controller. The machine looks very robust and ‘strong’ like a tank – the new controller looks very similar to the old one but will have a new updated design — hopefully fixing any d-pad issues we’ve had over the years. Microsoft presenters used buzzwords like ‘intelligent tv’ when talking about the new interface – trying
Defiance Review & Gameplay
With a television show on Syfy and a MMO by Trion Worlds, Defiance boldly treads into the world of cross-media experiences. The goal is to get you to watch the show and play the game concurrently. It’s an ambitious undertaking that does a lot to hit its mark of making the player feel a part of the Defiance universe; if only the game did more to distinguish itself as a MMO. In Defiance, you are an Ark Hunter – a person searching for alien technologies in order to make a quick buck. For an immediate crossover in the beginning of
Resident Evil Revelations HD Review & Gameplay
The Resident Evil as a franchise has mutated as much as the bio-weapons you face in it with each new iteration. Starting as a survival horror series, it has slowly become more action-oriented. While there has been an outcry from people who wish for the series to go back to its horror roots, it seems Capcom had just the remedy for their aliment. Resident Evil Revelations came out for the Nintendo 3DS fairly recently, but is the new HD port worth the extra cash? Resident Evil Revelations has you as multiple characters across a variety of locales, from a barren

Sanctum 2 – Review
A hybrid first-person shooter & tower defense game with a smattering of RPG flavor, Sanctum 2 follows up its popular predecessor with more strategic options and fast paced action than before. The game pits players against waves of marauding alien invaders in a stylized sci-fi universe, though there are plenty of tough towers and armaments to keep the enemy at bay. The love that developer Coffee Stain Studios has for the genres that influenced Sanctum 2 is evident from the get-go, as players are able to play as one of four classic FPS archetypes with unique weapons and abilities. Whether

Metro Last Light – Review
The Metro franchise has had a turbulent past year. Metro 2033 released in 2010 for PC and the Xbox 360 as a game based on a novel of the same title by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. It followed the escapades of protagonist Artyom as he worked his way through the dangerous underground metro of Moscow following a nuclear war. The plot ventured into the supernatural and the game ultimately ended up scoring in the solid eights and selling around a million copies. Metro: Last Light was announced as a sequel to 2033 and in progress for 2012 when the troubles

In our continuing coverage of Skylanders Giants we present Scarlet Ninjini the latest ‘rare’ or alternative figure released. Ninjini is a Skylanders Giant magic element with swords, magical orbs and her own genie bottle. Scarlet Ninjini is a variant figure that looks different both on the outside and in-game. Original Ninjini showcased a blue outfit while Scarlet Ninjini is in red – no additional powers in the game just a cosmetic difference. Wolfenstein The New Order Coming This Fall to Multiple Platforms
The last Wolfenstein game was a solid but forgotten effort by Raven Software (now working on Call of Duty) in 2009. Bethesda Softworks decided to reinvigorate the classic series and has announced its return under the name “Wolfenstein: The New Order“. The game is being developed by ex-Starbreeze Studios members at MachineGames and is set to release this fall on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and next-gen consoles. The story will feature series protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz in his never-ending war with the Nazi as they have won World War 2 and created a new empire in this alternate-reality 1960′s-era romp.
