The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a spin-off video game from the Life is Strange franchise which is a point-and-click adventure with fantasy elements. Captain Spirit is being developed by DONTNOD and published by Square Enix as a free downloadable game on June 26, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Captain Spirit acts as a prelude to the upcoming Life is Strange 2 with Easter Eggs hidden around levels that tie into the upcoming Life is Strange sequel. Captain Spirit stars a new character Chris who is a young boy who pretends to have superhero powers and has a fantastic imagination. Chris reminded us of Andy from the Toy Story franchise with the way he carried himself full of energy and creativity.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit introduces new game mechanics which will allow Chris to use his superpowers when he is alone and you can now respond to dialogue commands while walking. Some of the areas we saw as part of our private media demo during E3 Expo 2018 reminded us of The Upside Down World from the Stranger Things universe from Netflix complete with its own giant monsters to dispel.
