Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is the latest entry in the popular Ubisoft franchise releasing Oct 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate introduces two new protagonists twins Jacob and Evie Frye and is set in London 1868 during the Industrial Revolution.
For our hands-on demo of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate we were able to play as Jacob (Evie was not an option) for a couple of missions that included hand to hand combat and a horse drawn carriage chase. This time around Assassin’s Creed offers a bit more of the melee combat style like the Batman Arkham games and introduces the ‘rope launcher’ which gives players a new way to transverse the landscape or make for a quick escape.
The slow-turning horse drawn carriage portion of the demo was not nearly as exciting as climbing around on roof tops or exploring with the new rope launcher. Most of the tactical attacks are back again in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate like being able to stealth-kill from above and countering moves against an opponent. The visual style of the city has all the charm you would find in a typical Assassin’s Creed game – we’ll be curious to see which character becomes the more popular either Jacob or Evie.
