These days it seems most information has already been 90% leaked to the public before a press conference so watching the event is just a matter of confirmation, release date information and pricing. This was mostly the case for Apple and news about their upcoming iPhone 7. Not everything was leaked so there were some surprises like the announcement of Pokemon Go for the Apple Watch and Super Mario Run coming to iOS devices like iPhone and iPad.
apple talked in great detail about their Apple Watch 2 and showed off new apps like the ‘Viewranger‘ meant for hikers. Something new about the Apple Watch 2 is that it won’t need to be tethered to your iPhone for things like GPS and Navigation – a huge plus for people who want to run or hike. Apple reps also announced a partnership with Nike and showed off all the new Apple Watch 2 models including the sporty Nike version. The Apple Watch 2 will be water proof up to 50 Meters for swimmers or people taking them in the shower and uses the speaker system to ‘eject’ the water from the device.
Apple discussed in great detail the iOS 10 update on the horizon with updates to Siri, Maps and Home Management like security and automation devices. AppleHomeKit is a new integration system app for compatible products you may purchase in the future and wish to control with your phone like lights and other electronics.
The bulk of today’s Apple Press Conference was showing off the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – shipping September 16, 2016 in fancy colors like Jet Black, Black, Gold, Silver and Rose Gold. Some of the many new features for the iPhone 7 include a home button redesign with force sensitive/solid state real time tactile feedback. The new iPhone will be water and dust resistant and the camera has been given an improvement now boasting a 12MP sensor and the iPhone 7 Plus will feature two cameras one for standard picture taking and a telephoto one to help zoom into your subjects. The front facing camera on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will also see improvements now with a 7MP camera which was previously 5MP in quality.
Other bullet points surrounding the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the new stereo speaker system and ‘Ear Pods’ which are meant to help people get over the fact that the analog port for headphones is now gone. Apple showed off their wireless AirPods which look like giant toothpicks sticking out of the ear but have all the functionality of a typical Blue Tooth ear-piece and are compatible with Apple Watch and other devices.
The new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will have an A10 Fusion processor to help speed up performance and maximize battery life. Apple claims the new A10 chip will make it the fastest Smart Phone on the market yet also one of the most expensive.
