We got some hands-on time with Naughty Bear Panic in Paradise this week and came away wanting to play more!  Panic in Paradise is a sequel to Naughty Bear – a third person action game that saw a retail release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 a few years back.  This time around Naught Bear is a downloadable game and will only run you $15 on either XBLA or PSN but don’t let the price tag fool you as game developers promise that the game is dramatically larger in size then the original!

Naughty Bear Panic in Paradise has a vast hub connecting all the different locations in which you take on over 30 assignments to ‘defluff’ other bears of all shapes and sizes.  Taking out an enemy bear usually requires planning and skill – starting with your wardrobe choices, weapons and order of killing or terrorizing on the level.  Playing Naughty Bear is like a bizarre mix between the LEGO games (cute graphics and coin collecting), Assassin’s Creed (stealth and hiding) and Sleeping Dogs (using the environment for kills and melee damage).

The game has plenty of pop culture references – we witnessed stuff directly paying tribute to the Catina scene from Star Wars among other films.  Naughty Bear is a single-player game but you’ll most likely have more fun with a friend sitting next to you to compare who ‘gets’ more of the pop culture references.

Naughty Bear Panic in Paradise comes out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on Oct 10, 2012.
