Like many fans of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, I was initially hesitant on becoming wholly committed to the idea of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance being developed by any another studio than Kojima Productions. Even with the solid action seen in previous trailers, it was still a hard sell that another crew could create a game to properly honor the revered Metal Gear name.

It looks though as if Platinum Games, developers of such titles as Bayonetta and Mad World, have delivered. Watch the new Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Gameplay video to see for yourself below, as well as the insightful Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Official Interview. The interview chronicles the trials of Kojima Studios struggling to find the identity of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance without the direct guidance of their famed leader, the game’s revival after near cancellation, and a reinvigorated group eager to add a new layer to the Metal Gear legacy. If Kojima himself believes in Platinum Games and the direction they’ve taken Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, then it definitely merits my attention.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2013.
