International Video Game Hall of Fame & Museum launch

Posted on August 31st, 2009 in News & Events by admin

Walter Day (Twin Galaxies founder) launched the International Video Game Hall of Fame & Museum not long ago in Ottuma, Iowa.  A handful of famous video game icons were in attendance to help support the cause.  In support of Walter Day’s cause were Fatal1ty, Billy Mitchell, Todd Rogers, TriForce and Steve Sanders.  A videographer at the event caught a rare glimpse of famous gamer Billy Mitchell in a friendly game of Donkey Kong, in which he lost a man rather quickly, perhaps not wanting to set any new world records?

Hailey Bright makes it into the funny books!

Posted on August 29th, 2009 in News & Events by admin

Yes, that’s right, true believers – Hailey Bright of COIN-OP TV fame has graced the pages of a recent Spider-Man comic book.  Dark Reign: The Goblin Legacy is a one-shot reprint of the Green Goblin’s origin story with a new story and art by Karl Kesel and Mike Mayhew.  The new story features a female character named Victoria Hand which has a near-perfect resemblance to Hailey Bright.  As it turns out, Hailey Bright had a photo shoot not long ago in which she acted out the scene and concept for artist Mike Mayhew to render later for the book.

Blizzcon 2009 highlights from the show floor

Posted on August 23rd, 2009 in News & Events by cotv

BLIZZCON 2009 is a memory and by now you’ve heard all about the big announcements like the Monk class in Diablo 3 and the Cataclysm Expansion in World of Warcraft.  2010 will be a big year for Blizzard Entertainment but for now let’s take a look at what went down in and around the show floor!

Blizzard has three major franchises under their belt in World of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo and the Blizzcon floor lay-out at the Anaheim Convention Center expressed this theme.  The floor was sectioned off into three major sections, each with its own stage, shops and playing area with the official Blizzcon store wrapping around on both sides.

Blizzcon Day 1 highlights from the show floor included The Guild (an extremely popular Internet serial) panel with all of the major cast members on stage.  The Guild cast shared anecdotes of things going on behind the scenes and also hung around after at their booth to sign autographs and meet fans.

Famous actor/comic Jay Mohr took to the main stage later that evening to host the Cosplay Competition to a capacity crowd.  This competition raised the bar on homemade costumes and presentation.  Jay hammed it up on stage to both roaring cheers and lots of jeers.  The first place winner of the Cosplay Competition was a fantastic rendition of ‘The Mistress of Pain’ from the Diablo universe.

The closing night ceremony was capped off by an epic performance from The Prince of Darkness himself Mr. Ozzy Osbourne!  The majority of attendance flocked to the main stage to soak up (literally) the experience.  Ozzy played a short set littered with major hits from the Black Sabbath era and Osbourne’s own Bark at the Moon, Crazy Train and I Don’t Know.
