COIN-OP TV celebrates 5 years at CA Extreme

Posted on July 13th, 2009 in News & Events by admin

COIN-OP TV celebrated five years of Internet broadcasting July 11th & 12th at California Extreme (San Jose).   California Extreme is an annual event, which took place at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara this year, with over 400 original arcade and pinball machines set to ‘free-play’ during weekend.

COIN-OP TV founder, Robert Welkner, and host, Hailey Bright, spoke at a panel at CA Extreme and gave a retrospective look back at the first five years of the show including a short video presentation followed by a raffle giveaway.

TWIN GALAXIES and BILLY MITCHELL commissioned a special limited edition poster and Rick’s Hot Sauce labels to help commemorate the five year anniversary.  Fans who attended the panel were given posters and host sauce in the raffle to help celebrate the event.

An informal COIN-OP TV 5 year anniversary party followed the panel at the Hyatt Regency Lobby Lounge Bar for drinks and good times.  Thanks to all our friends and fans who came out to help support the show – we look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Web Soup from G4tv – fun in a viral sorta way

Posted on July 10th, 2009 in News & Events by cotv

Our friends over at G4tv were kind enough to invite me and some of the COIN-OP TV team and friends down to their studio for a taping of their popular weekly show, Web Soup, with Chris Hardwick.  Web Soup is much like the smash hit show ‘The Soup’ in which the host makes funny remarks and gestures after seeing the most embarrassing moments caught on video.  A show like this relies heavily on the abilities of its host and Chris Hardwick is very much up to the task.  We got to take some ‘fan photos’ around the studio and after the show with Chris who goes by @nerdist on twitter.

Cosplaying my way thru Anime Expo 2009

Posted on July 5th, 2009 in News & Events by cotv

Anime Expo is ‘the big one’ for all things Japanese animation, toys, hobby and more but what truly makes this annual event fun is the cosplayers.  Anime Expo has some of the best cosplayers in the nation.  You’ve got your Narutos, your Pokemons, your Kingdom Hearts, your Transformers, you name it and chances are someone is dressed as one at Anime Expo.   Attendance was up from last year, bringing in close to 45,000 fans from across the world, making this one of the largest conventions in Los Angeles.

Other Anime Expo highlights revolve around their large exhibit hall, panels with industry members from TV/Film, AX Idol and the very popular masquerade.  2009′s Anime Expo held a special Power Rangers reunion with cast members from up and down the series who spoke at a panel and signed autographs all weekend.

This year I decided to slap together a costume of my own and parade around Anime Expo as Marty McFly from the Back To The Future films.  I tried my best to match the look and attitude of McFly which was made famous by Michael J. Fox in the films.
