Posted on May 13th, 2009 in COIN-OP TV vidcast by admin

COIN-OP TV helped co-sponsor JAB / STRONG / FIERCE (an art show tribute to Street Fighter) which ran from April 25th to May 11th at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California.  Over 40 artists showcased their talent with amazing works of art revolving around the Street Fighter franchise.  The show was a huge success with a capacity crowd in attendance for opening night.

The gallery was filled with cosplayers dressed as their favorite characters from the game.  There was a Street Fighter IV tournament and plenty of artists on hand to chat with.  Ben Zhu, Gallery Nucleus curator, put the show together as a ‘love-fest’ for all things Street Fighter.  Several videos from the event and plenty of photos have appeared all over the Internet and the gallery sold over 50% of the artwork on display.

PRODUCER CHRIS PALMISANO IN STUDIO

COIN-OP TV LIVE hosts Robert Welkner and Hailey Bright welcomed Activision’s Chris Palmisano as a studio guest to talk about the making of the new video game X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Chris helped field live questions from both host and people in the chat room. COIN-OP TV LIVE is unique in that it is one of the few live/interactive shows on the video game industry produced independently as part of www.TheStream.TV network.

Topics covered during the interview revolved around the making of the game, how they tackled producing an M-rated title to coincide with the PG-13 rated movie and how star Hugh Jackman was involved early on in the project.

Posted on May 1st, 2009 in News & Events by admin

Not only do our friends over at www.Kombo.com bring you all the latest video game news and excitement but they produce Kombo Breaker, an audio podcast wrap up of gaming news and current events.  Robert Welkner, host of COIN-OP TV LIVE, had the pleasure of sitting in on their latest episode (ep26) which you can find a blurb about below:

The first Friday in May marks the 26th episode of Kombo Breaker. This week’s episode featured another new guest, Rob Welkner of COIN-OP TV. COIN-OP TV is a live, and archived, show centered around gaming and geek culture in general. If you’ve never checked it out, you need too.

So we talk to Rob about COIN-OP, our weeks and then we get into a little discussion about girl characters in gaming, which is an editorial that ran on Kombo a few days back. Brad also breaks down into tears when he realizes that he absolutely must buy a DSi. True story.
