Hailey Bright and Robert Welkner of COIN-OP TV had the pleasure of stopping by the Gamers United Party this week.  The event was thrown not only to celebrate the holiday season but as a toy-drive for the Toys For Tots charity.  All in attendance brought gifts to donate and also got a chance to mingle with friends and meet new people.  The weather in Los Angeles wasn’t so great and everyone remained bundled up as a result of it but overall the party was fun and relaxed.  Thanks to Gamer Vixens, Gaming Angels, Pwned, Smart Monkey and all the other sponsors for organizing!

Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival 2008

Posted on December 7th, 2008 in News & Events by cotv

Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival 2008 went down over the weekend at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, California.  Rob Welkner (COIN-OP.TV) along with Jessica and Mandie from Girls Got Game checked out the show on Saturday.  This gathering of FF XI fans is not about showing off and large scale production but more about micro-managing your time in a step-by-step exploration of the Fan Festival.  When something big is going down like the Costume Contest then all the other rooms are closed off – shoving all the traffic into the main room to witness the activities.

More highlights included a Final Fantasy XI developers panel with Hiromichi Tanaka (Producer), which discussed plans to expand the universe in great detail.  The Art Contest gave aspiring artists a chance to show off their tribute paintings, which were voted on by attendees.  The weekend was capped off with a special performance by Kumi Tanioka (Star Onions member and a composer for Final Fantasy XI) and Award Ceremony.

Nerdcore Calendar release party Los Angeles

Posted on December 1st, 2008 in News & Events by admin

Jon Gibson celebrates geek culture on many levels as creator of both the I am 8-Bit art show exhibition and Nerdcore calendars.  In 2008, I am 8-Bit celebrated its fourth year while 2009 will mark the third Nerdcore calendar release, which celebrates a theme of science fiction.  No fan will be upset to witness twelve months of beautiful models like Justine Joli, Karlie Montana and Zoli Suicide in sexy-nude futuristic scenes.  In addition to sex appeal, the dates on the calendars are marked to celebrate all things geek like comic book convention dates and birthdays of fellow celebrity nerds of the world.  Robert Welkner and Hailey Bright of COIN-OP TV were present to witness the hype and show their support at the launch party at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles, California.  (Photos: BlankLogo Photography)
