GameStop and Universal Studios CityWalk in Hollywood celebrated the midnight release of GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR over the weekend and COIN-OP TV was there to check things out!  The GameStop CityWalk location has been home to many midnight launches including the infamous Nintendo Wii, which contained a line of hundreds of eager fans that wrapped around the entire facility.  The excitement over the weekend wasn’t quite that extensive…

Fans who participated in the midnight Guitar Hero World Tour launch were treated to a large band stage where pretend rockers could strut their stuff to the cheering onlookers in the audience.  Some of the cast from Beverly Hills 90210 were in attendance but long gone once we got there with our team.  We witnessed some stellar performances from the competition and cool prizes were awarded.  Eventually midnight came along and the floodgates to the store were opened, leading to fast sales in the store on the bundle and game only.  We managed to score the last remaining Xbox 360 GH WT bundle and quickly went home to jam all night.  Expect to see more midnight launches to be up at Universal Studios CityWalk featuring big holiday releases!

Our very own Hailey Bright co-host of COIN-OP TV LIVE has been branching out this month!  Next time you’re at the bookstore be sure to flip through the latest issue (Oct 2008) of Elle Magazine with Jennifer Lopez on the cover!  On page 402 you’ll find a photo of Hailey Bright from COIN-OP TV doing some modeling for an article about shopping and the economy.  Hailey has also been moonlighting with TheCGS.com and recently helped with their coverage of Blizzcon 2008 in Los Angeles!  Finally both Hailey Bright and Robert Welkner were featured in the latest issue of Game Room Magazine (Oct 2008) in their news section which talked about the new COIN-OP TV Anniversary Shirts!  Be sure to send Hailey some fan support on her MySpace page and let her know that you are keeping up to speed on her activities!

Billy Mitchell (The King of Kong) doesn’t grant radio or tv interviews all that often so we at COIN-OP TV were happy to land one at the E For All Expo. Billy was there to help support The League of Legendary Gamers charity foundation which also includes pro-gamers Fatal1ty, TriForce, Justin Wong and Todd Rogers.

COIN-OP TV ANNIVERSARY PARTY – HUGE SUCCESS!

The headlines this week may very well read ‘E For All Expo so-so but COIN-OP TV party a smash’. Many thanks to all 300 guests who attended our first big party to celebrate 4 years of COIN-OP TV broadcasting both live and as a video podcast. We had a VIP room with Rock Band 2 going on and complimentary ‘COIN-OP TV Blasters’ drinks, a large screen with highlights from the show running all night long, Paul Dean brought his Ms. Pac-Man and Donkey Kong machines for all to play and some celebs like Chris Gore, Fatal1ty and Steve Wiebe were hanging out!

We hope to expand and take things into a bigger and better direction in the future – so stay tuned!

Despite labeling recent reports of a new DS “speculation,” Nintendo has indeed announced a new version of its hugely successful handheld. At a conference in Tokyo, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata unveiled the new Nintendo DSi, which features not one but two 640×480 cameras, MP3 support, larger screens, and more.
