Our good friend COLLIN SIMON has released a CD with some of his awesome tunes – ya’ll should at least check out his myspace page and if you like the stuff you can get the CD on CD Baby.....he scored the music for Robert’s Welkner’s short films Pennyman and Rollerboy as well as a ton of movies and is a good – talented person all around!

Collin Simon has been composing music for over 18 years from stage to films. He began writing for community theaters when he was 13, composed the music for his first documentary when he was 16, and his first film when he was 18. By the time Collin was 20, he worked in a professional theater arranging, performing, and composing original musicals.

Activision announced details for new Guitar Hero III downloadable content from Def Leppard. The three-song track pack includes the new radio single Nine Lives and live versions of the classic songs Photograph and Rock of Ages. This Def Leppard track pack will release for PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 24, 2008.

“Being involved with Guitar Hero is very exciting for us and adds a whole new layer of appreciation,” says Joe Elliott, lead singer, Def Leppard. “I know from personal experience how much more you get into the music by playing the game – which is why we were keen to explore this opportunity. Hailey and Robert from COIN-OP TV had the pleasure of crashing DJ Rossstar’s Punk Rock Show this week for his interview with alternative hip-hop artist Shwayze.  For those not familiar with DJ Rossstar’s blend of internet charm – he hosts a weekly internet radio show on Wednesdays and Thursdays and has a knack for catching all the latest and hottest music acts as guests in his studio which doubles as his apartment.

This week Warped Tour and current chart busters Shwayze were in town for an interview.  They joked around with fans during the live show and fielded questions about their music as well as sampled two tracks from their upcoming album.  The atmosphere at DJ Rossstar’s is very relaxed and after a while the gang started playing with Lightning Reaction a toy from the Shocking Fun company in which players have to push buttons faster then the next or else face being zapped.

The radio show was also videotaped as part of DJ Rossstar’s Buzznet show which highlights special guests from month to month.   DJ Rossstar was last seen involved with the world of COIN-OP TV when he guest hosted the show along with Hailey back in Nov 2007.

FRAG the movie premiered at the AFI Dallas Film Festival a couple weeks ago! This movie is about professional gaming and chronicles adventures of Fatal1ty, one of the highest profiled pro-gamers of our century. Both Fatal1ty and a handful of other gamers were at the movie’s premiere including Yvonna moderating the screening. This past weekend Mike (BlankLogo Photography) and Robert hit up the SoCal Cosplay Gathering which took place at a park in Irvine, California.  This event happens about twice a year and is organized independently from a group of friends who love to cosplay and want to share their outfits and time with other fans of cosplay.  Cosplaying is all about dressing up as your favorite anime or video game character with costumes made from scratch.  In California we are lucky to have a wide variety of cosplayers who show up to all the events.

Beyond hanging out and modeling for photographers the SoCal Cosplay Gathering had Rock Band and Super Smash Bros Brawl tournaments, plenty of food and sodas as well as giveaways and contests like one for ‘best cosplay outfit’ which went to our friend Anela who can be found in the COIN-OP TV’s Anime Expo 2007 interviews.

Attendance has grown with each gathering and this time almost reached 400 so be sure to check things out again when they have the next get together and tell ‘em that COIN-OP TV sentcha!

Square Enix announced today that it will be bringing Final Fantasy IV for DS to the U.S. The game has been created by the same team that worked on Final Fantasy III for the DS. Final Fantasy IV for DS features 3D graphics, fully-voiced cut-scenes, and other additional content.

“Final Fantasy IV for DS is a classic revived for the 21st century,” said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix, Inc. “The visual upgrades are remarkable, and the plot has been enhanced with added detail and depth. We hope that fans of the original, as well as players new to the Final Fantasy franchise, will enjoy all that this title has to offer.”

Final Fantasy IV will release on the DS on July 22, 2008.

We are sure that the Spy Hunter movie will SUCK but at least we’ll always have this tremendously awesome Pontiac tribute to the original Spy Hunter arcade classic to remind of us all the golden ages of video gaming!
