Upgrades came in 2007 when TheStream.TV moved to a new studio and opened up to even more new shows and people. The network also started syndicating its live feed through various outlets like Stickam.com, uStream.TV and BlogTV.com which carry the feed and support their own respective chat-room interaction. The dedication and support of the viewers and fans (sometimes referred to as ‘The Collective’) grows stronger each day and bigger name guests are finding their way into the studio more and more every week.

Catch www.TheStream.TV shows during the week (Monday-Friday) with shows at 6PM, 8PM and 10PM PST – and tonight’s big 500th episode celebration at 10PM PST on 2/28/08.

Ultimate Band coming from Disney

Posted on February 28th, 2008 in News & Events by cotv

Disney Interactive Studios today announced that it is developing Ultimate Band for the DS and Wii. As is implied by the title, the game will let players play various instruments (including guitar and drums) using the Wii controllers and the DS’ stylus. While no particular songs were mentioned, Disney did promise “some of the very biggest names in rock, alternative, popular, emo and indie rock music.”

Ultimate Band invites kids, tweens and teens to join in the jam session,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president, global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “And whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members don’t need to buy costly, single-function peripherals to play their way through Ultimate Band’s deep song list, dynamic venues, and customizable characters. The Wii Remote and DS stylus are the only tools they’ll need to reach rock stardom in Ultimate Band.”

Ultimate Band will release on DS and Wii during “holiday” 2008.

Dr Pepper Sponsors Major League Gaming

Posted on February 27th, 2008 in News & Events by cotv

Major League Gaming (MLG) announced today that Dr Pepper will be the “official beverage sponsor” for the 2008 MLG Pro Circuit. This partnership will lead to a co-branded online collegiate gaming championship along with the Dr Pepper Ultimate Gaming House. The latter will feature the latest in gaming equipment for fans and celebrities to play at each of the 2008 MLG Pro Circuit tournaments.

“Major League Gaming offers us an ideal opportunity to connect with the Dr Pepper consumer,” said Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr Pepper. “We are excited to provide Dr Pepper fans with such a unique opportunity in the gaming community and bring more to Major League Gaming by introducing the Dr Pepper Ultimate Gaming House and the Online Collegiate Gaming Championship.”

“[Dr Pepper's] ad agency is very familiar with use and thought it was a good fit,” said Mike Sepso, chairman of MLG to GameDaily BIZ. “Short term, it’s a validation. When you get a brand as large as Dr Pepper, it shows how mainstream MLG is becoming. Sports sponsorship is such an enormous market, and there’s a lot of sponsorship coming in from the regular sporting world. It’s a notice to the advertising world in general and it’s a incredible way [for Dr Pepper] to reach a key demographic.”

Mini Guitar Hero

Posted on February 23rd, 2008 in News & Events by cotv

guitarheropocket1.jpgAttention all guitar heroes: do you spend the entirety of your daily grind day dreaming about those legendary rock ‘n’ roll video game moments you’re going to create once you get back from the office? Don’t you wish you could take your Xbox with you to work and get a few hours of practice, shredding through hot tunes on your coveted heavy metal axe?

Well, day dream no more, because now you can wow your co-workers and fellow members of the working class by kicking out the jams all day sans video game console. The folks at Basic Fun have teamed up with the Guitar Hero’s creators at Activision and Red Octane to create a portable version of the game on an itty-bitty guitar with a folding neck and LCD screen, allowing you to bust through tunes from Guitar Hero I and II on the subway or in the conference room. For those about rock, we salute you!

Commodore games ported to Nintendo Wii VC

Posted on February 21st, 2008 in News & Events by cotv

commodore-64-home-computer.jpgIt was revealed today that Commodore 64 home computer games will be offered on the European Wii Virtual Console soon in 2008, with other territories no doubt to follow. Games will each be priced at 500 Wii Points (that’s €5 / £3.75) on the Shop Channel and the first classic 8-bit games set to appear are: International Karate and Uridium.

The Commodore 64 was originally released back in 1982 and went on to become the best-selling home computer of all-time, with 22 million units sold worldwide (I said computer, not console). Hugely popular across Europe and the United States, the C64 built up a huge line-up of software, with over 4,000 titles produced during its production lifetime (1982-1994).

Bala Keilman, CEO of Commodore Gaming: “The massive impact the Commodore 64 had on video-gaming is still evident today with many gamers remembering the computer and its games with great fondness. By working with Nintendo of Europe, we are ensuring that future generations of gamers can play some of the best and most popular titles that kick-started the computer games revolution and so keep the C64 legacy in gamers hearts.”

Laurent Fischer, Managing Director of European Marketing & PR of Nintendo Europe: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Commodore Gaming to provide even more retro hits for Wii owners to choose from on Virtual Console. With over 184 classic titles now available to enjoy, Virtual Console on Wii is a great way for users to access a breadth of classic retro games. We hope that this great choice of games will bring nostalgia to our gaming fans, while an entirely new generation of video game players can experience a host of classic games for the very first time.” — Via VCreviews, from Nintendo.fi

‘Guitar Hero: Aerosmith’ Announced

Posted on February 15th, 2008 in News & Events by cotv

633386592895937329.jpgIt was rumored for months, but now it’s official: Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is coming.

The game allows players to live the majesty and triumph of Aerosmith from their days as a garage band up until they ascend the rock throne and rule rock with an iron fist. It comes out in June for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii.

Plus, Guitar Hero 3 owners will get a present: Dream On will be available for free download for free between February 16-18 for both the PS3 and the 360. Sorry, Wii.

“Having a game built around Aerosmith has been a huge honor and really a great experience for us,” says Joe Perry. “We’ve put a lot of ideas into the game so that fans can have fun interacting with our music, getting inside our body of work and learning about the band’s history.”

No track list has been announced as yet, but we bet you’ll be playing every well-known Aerosmith tune and a lot of unknown rockers. Whether partying with groupies and scarf wrapping mini-games will be included has not been confirmed.

Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be developed by Neversoft, with Vicarious Visions behind the Wii edition and Budcat handling the PlayStation 2 iteration.
