Clicker interviews COIN-OP TV at E3 2010
Clicker’s prime prerogative for being at E3 was to connect with the Web series community in attendance. Though not something you might initially relate to video gaming, considering the amount of Web shows that center around the gaming world, it’s no surprise that they crossed paths with quite a few. On Day 1, they ran into André Meadows (Black Nerd Comedy) and Beau Ryan (Rad Nerd, and the soon-to-be-released Eight Thirteen) who had some awesome news about a new collaboration (you’ll have to watch the video below to get the whole story). They also got to talk to Rob Welkner of COIN-OP TV.

E3 2010 Expo reactions (Tues-Thurs)
Hard to wrap up a week’s worth of news, stories and game demos in one post but here’s the short version of our COIN-OP TV adventures at E3 Expo 2010 with Robert Welkner and Hailey Bright!
Tuesday – Sony started the day with their press conference showcasing 3D games like the new Grand Turismo and featured footage from Killzone 3. Since the GDC press conference already showed off their upcoming Move – this conference was more about the hardcore games and 3D. On the show floor we interviewed developers from EA’s Medal of Honor, Quantum Theory and Vindictus from Nexon. We also got our hands on Rock Band 3 and were impressed by the song selections as well as the new keyboard!
Tuesday evening was all about the Pac-Man party from Namco Bandai where we were treated to a first look at their upcoming Pac-Man 3D cartoon! Later that night we checked out the SFX360 party which included gamer celebs Prod1gy (pro gamer) and Carlos Ferro (voice actor).
Wednesday we got hands on with Hunted from Bethesda and an early look at iD’s Rage which both look amazing. At the Capcom booth we checked out Marvel vs Capcom 3 which is coming along nicely and played some Just Dance 2.
Wednesday night was all about the THQ party at The Standard downtown to celebrate their game ‘Homefront‘. Some of the VIP celebs in attendance were Rachel Bilson, Clarke Duke, Tomonobu Itagaki, Joe Madureira and Playmate Jo Garcia.
Thursday we interviewed devs for Vanquish and Dead Space 2 – also got a closer look at XCOM. Fans who went by the NYKO booth were treated to giant images of Hailey Bright on their wall! We got to meet Chris from Joystick Junkies who had a small booth in the West Hall – downtown Los Angeles was crazy with the Laker playoff game 7 happening the same night.
Some pictures below – but you can find all of them here:

E3 2010 Expo reactions Day 0 (Monday)
E3 2010 highlights from the press conferences — Microsoft announced the new Xbox 360 slim (in black) and gave them out to press/media people in attendance. No mention on if the new Xbox 360 slim is ‘red ring of death’ proof but it looks nice in design and comes Kinect friendly.
From the EA press conference we were impressed by Dead Space 2, Medal of Honor and intrigued by the new Madden game. The Ubisoft press conference was hosted by Joel McHale (whom we interviewed at the Splinter Cell red carpet) who introduced the latest Assassin’s Creed, hammed his way through an awkward lazer tag game and wooed the crowd with the Michale Jackson dance game.
Much like last year – Activision‘s concert at the Staples Center was the ‘big ticket’ in town – featuring DJ’s Z-Trip and Deadmau5 followed by performances from Usher, Eminem, Rhianna, Janes Addiction and more! During the Activision event we were treated to sneaks of games True Crime, DJ Hero 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops. It was a great way to kick off the long E3 weekend from Activision and the press conferences!
E3 2009 Expo reactions Day 3 (Thursday)
Last day of the show means everyone is exhausted and tired. It becomes a task just to stay focused and get the job done but we had another full day on the show floor. We got a ‘behind the closed door’ look at Guitar Hero 5, DJ Hero, Modern Warfare 2 and interviewed people on those teams and I finally got some hands-on time with Guitar Hero: Van Halen which looks promising.
By now, all the big show announcements had already passed. I usually look at Thursday as the ‘clean up’ day in which I re-visit booths that I skipped along the way. One game that really looks nice was Global Agenda from Hi-Rez Studios in Atlanta. This action/third person shooter runs on the Unreal engine for PC gamers and looks smooth and fun. We played another Rock Band Beatles song today and as much as I want to love this game – am disappointed so far. Another ‘sleeper’ game I got to check out was from Warner Bros called ‘Where The Wild Things Are’. This game ties into the new film yet is a stand alone story and not an adaptation from the movie. The characters and game play elements really look charming.
Props to Aubrey, Ian, Todd and Kevin for repping COIN-OP TV by wearing their t-shirts around the show this week! Check out this video from G4tv with Aubrey sporting his COIN-OP TV shirt on camera – http://e3.g4tv.com/videos/38834/Scion-E3-Confessions/
E3 2009 Expo reactions Day 2 (Wednesday)
We had a full day of shooting and interviews to tackle today and for the most part things went smooth. Hailey and I started off at the Sega booth where we interviewed developers from the upcoming games Alpha Protocol and Aliens Vs Predator. After that we headed over to the West Hall where we got to see the gigantic and stunning Activision booth. Only EA (their closest rival) came close to the size of the screens and displays at the booth. Missing were the sexy booth babes and swag but bravo for no long lines and lots of things to see and play!
We did an interview with one of the producers of the Rock Band Beatles game which looks fantastic. We got to play a couple of songs but to my surprise I was not entirely impressed. Outside of the new colorful graphics and additional singing tracks – the game appears to just be a glorified expansion of Rock Band 2 (which is already a fun game). Going back one more day to play more songs and see if I change my tune (get it?).
Hailey got some interviews with Sony developers on games like God of War 3 and Uncharted 2. Both games look insanely stunning and awesome. You really cannot take in how nice these games look and play from seeing trailers and teasers on the Internet. We wrapped up the day shooting interviews with a handful of the Ultimate Gamer Champions (sci-fi network) like Prodigy X, Swoozie and potential candidate for season two Justin Wong. We had very little down time as the day was full of work but after the show wrapped we headed to dinner with the guys from Activision (who are awesome) and then over to the Windows party. Mad props to Nelson and Chris for throwing one of the cooler and hip parties of E3!
As of now I would say that these five games will be on everyone’s wish list and potentials for ‘Game of the Year’ – God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2, DJ Hero and Splinter Cell: Conviction.
